Fellowship & Fundraising We exist to build loving Christian relationships within our parish family and the community through diverse fellowship opportunities, and support the work and goals of St. Peter’s with a variety of fundraising events. Fellowship begins as we greet each other on Sunday and gather for social time after the service to enjoy light refreshments. The committee organizes Sunday coffee hour, parish dinners, both pot-luck and catered, and special occasion events. Fundraising throughout the year supports the operating budget, mission work, youth group activities and other special needs. Some of the memorable events have been an annual book fair and café, an Irish dinner in March, a parish picnic and a major fundraiser that in the past has been Basket Bingo, a Silent Auction or Winter Festival. This committee works to bring new and exciting opportunities that combine both fellowship and fundraising, and welcomes new members and ideas. Budget Committee Our purpose is to compile a preliminary budget and narrative for the vestry and stewardship campaign. This includes ministry input, diocesan guidelines and committee review of historical data. This committee meets in August and reviews total budget line items prior to vestry review and discussion using the guidelines and information listed above. Budget is not finalized until pledges are received and vestry has completed their review. After vestry approval, this is included in the annual report to the parish. Women’s Group Our vision is to support and empower the women of St Peter’s in all of their ministries and to become a vibrant blend of women of all ages and walks in life. We share a love of God and the wish to do his work through the various ministries in which we serve. By knowing one another, we aspire to develop new friendships, and to support and inspire each other as we share in God’s love. Our Goal is to continue to meet for fellowship activities at least every two months and to occasionally plan additional Spiritual offerings or attend a retreat This group meets regularly to provide an opportunity for the women of the church to know one another better, have fun and strengthen our relationship with God. Some of the activities have included dinner at a local restaurant, summer pool party, Saturday brunch, and a quiet evening of reflection. Worship Committee The Worship Committee of St. Peter's continually evaluates our Corporate Worship as we strive to ensure a full and rich spiritual experience for all. The Worship Committee of St. Peter's Episcopal Church meets on the second Thursday of each month. The committee is comprised of representatives from all groups involved in the worship experience. Our rich Episcopal heritage is very important to us. It forms the core of our worship. To that end, we will constantly review all aspects of our Sunday morning Eucharist. It is our goal to be as inclusive as possible. Pastoral Care Committee It is the desire of the Pastoral Care Committee to insure that all shut-ins, whether permanent or temporary, will always feel connected to St. Peter's Church and know the full meaning of our love. We keep in touch with our shut-ins with frequent notes, cards, and phone calls. Home visits are made as often as possible. We strive to see that each homebound person receives Holy Communion every other month. In order to carry out this mission we welcome new members. Youth Council The Youth Council functions as a support group for the adult leaders and members of the St. Peter’s Youth Group Our council includes the Rector, Youth Group adult leaders, two youth group members, two youth group member parents, and at least two parishioners “at large”. Our core responsibilities include:
We welcome all who wish to join us in supporting the youth program of our parish, our most valuable resource. New Member Ministry The work of the New Member Ministry covers several key areas: welcoming and facilitating visitors on their journey to becoming members, monitoring the various ministries and resources of St. Peter’s and helping new members become involved in them, and implementing creative ways to express the value of St. Peter’s to the wider community. Greeters at every service welcome visitors and help them to feel at home. We urge visitors to sign our guest book so that we may write follow up notes and stay in touch. Welcome bags contain information about our church and also the community. Greeters provide assistance and answer questions in a gently supportive manner. The New Member Ministry provides the informational pew brochures and book marks found in each pew of the church. Visitors can learn about the various ministries and history of St. Peter’s , and take the information with them. The New Member Ministry also provides weekly newspaper coverage of church activities. The work of the New Member Ministry often overlaps with other committees in implementing new and creative ways to spread the good news about St. Peter’s Church. Our goal is to have our visitors become our members as we work together to build up the body of Jesus Christ. |
